Thankful Cards

Hello Blogging Friends!!

I just recently learned about the Global Art Swap through a person I exchanged notes with through the Love Notes program run by Jennifer Belthoff.  If you want to learn more about Love Notes you can go here to read all about it.  If you would like to learn about the Global Art Swap you can go here to read all about it and they are having another swap coming up in December.

Here are the cards that I made to send to my 3 people:

I used distress oxide for my backgrounds, I rubbed different colors of distress oxide onto watercolor paper with my blending tool and then I spritzed the paper with water and let it dry.  I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Trails to put the hearts onto the card.  I stamped the Impression Obsession Thankful die with black ink onto more watercolor paper and then I used my ripping edge ruler to tear the edges of the paper.  I colored in the Thankful with Copic markers and I inked the ripped edges with Tea Dye distress ink and added it to the card.

This is my first heART Swap and I am really looking forward to seeing what my 3 people send to me.

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!

I am very thankful for all my loyal followers of my blog!

Calling All Sistahs November Encouragement Challenge

Hello Blogging Friends!!

It is time for another Encouragement Challenge at Calling All Sistahs!! Our challenge for November is to use the Inspiration Photo below to create a card to send to someone who needs some words of encouragement as they are struggling through a rough time.  It doesn't have to be cancer, it can be for someone who has lost a loved one, lost a job or just needs some words of encouragement.  The real challenge will be who to mail it to?  I love getting happy snail mail in my mailbox instead of just bills or advertisements!  There is also a prize of a $25 Gift Certificate to the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps store, plus if you use a CAS-ual Fridays product on your card and are the winner you will receive a $50 Gift Certificate!  Now that is nothing to sneeze at!!  There are so many awesome stamps and dies in the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps store!!

Here is the Inspiration Photo:

For my A2 card I started with Kraft card stock as the base of the card.  I took a piece of Watercolor paper and the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Calm and Gentle stamp set and some brown ink and stamped the base of the tree onto the paper.  Next I took two different green inks and stamped the tree top several times in each color.  I then cut that down a bit and added it to the Kraft card stock and I put the brown frame around the paper.  Next I took some more brown ink and the sentiment from the same stamp set and stamped that onto a scrap of white paper, inked the edges with brown ink and attached that to the card underneath the tree.

Be sure to stop by the CAS-ual Fridays store to see all the wonderful stamp sets there are to make cards of encouragement with!!  If you decide that there are one or two stamp sets that you just have to have then use this code encourage17 to get 15% off stamps and dies!!  Thank you Michele, for letting me pass this on to my followers.

Don't forget to stop by the Encouragement Squad post to see all the lovely creations that the Design Team have made.

Now it is your turn to create something for this challenge!!  There will be a prize of a $25 Gift Card to use at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, that will be doubled if your use CAS-ual Fridays products for your card!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Scrapy Land Challenge #78

Hello Blogging Friends!

Today is the start of a new challenge on the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog ~

Scrapy Land Challenge #78

The theme is always ANYTHING GOES using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  In addition, we have TWO WINNERS for each challenge.  One will be a random winner and the other is chosen by the Design Team.  Each winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to Scrapy Land.

Please link your post back to the Scrapy Land Challenge #78 and include a link to this challenge in your post.  It would also be extremely helpful if you would list the brands of dies used in your project. (Sometime we can't tell if an item is a die cut or chipboard.)

Today's post is going to be a bit different then our normal challenge post because back in September the Design Team had a sign-up for a Halloween/Fall Card Exchange with another Designer on the Team.  Not all of us took part for various reasons, but I happen to love Halloween so I was all in!  I got to make a card and send to Mary on the Scrapy Land Design Team!  This is the card I made for Mary:

Ingredients:

Kraft card stock
Watercolor paper
Picked Raspberry distress ink
Blueprint distress ink
Seedless Grape distress ink
Black Soot distress ink
Assorted paper from my stash
Coarse Kosher salt
Water

For this card I started with Kraft card stock for the base of the card.  I then took a piece of watercolor paper, some distress inks, my blending tool and my craft mat and got to work making a spooky background!  I started by applying the Picked Raspberry distress ink to the bottom of my watercolor paper.

I then took the Blueprint distress ink and rubbed that above the Picked Raspberry letting the inks overlap each other.

I then took the Seedless Grape distress ink and rubbed that above the Blueprint ink letting the ink overlap into each other.

Then I took the Black Soot distress ink and rubbed that lightly around the edges and over the top of the other colors.

I then took my spritz bottle of water and spritzed the paper and then I sprinkled coarse salt over the paper and let it dry.

I love the way the salt, water and ink mix together, makes for a spooky background!

After the paper was dry I brushed off the salt and attached that to the Kraft base and then started adding my die cuts to the card.  I cut out the Taylored Expressions Birch Tree Boader die and cut that out with white paper and then inked it up with black ink and added it to the left hand corner of the card.  I then took some black paper and cut it out with the Die-Versions Creepy Gate die and added that to the card.  I then took some yellow glitter paper and cut out the moon from the Die-Versions Moon and Cloud die and added that over the Creepy Gate.  I then took some more black paper and cut it out with the Die-Versions Wicked Witch die and added her on top of the moon.  So what do you think??  Is it a Spooky Halloween card or what??

Here is another picture of the card:

I got my Halloween card from Lisa on the Design Team and here is the wonderful card she sent to me:

I love all the spooky details she added to this card!!

Now you have to go over to the Scrapy Land Challenge #78 and see what the rest of the Design Team have made!!

Then it is your turn to create something for this challenge!!

Please remember to:

~include at least one brand of die that Scrapy Land sells
~include a link to the Scrapy Land Challenge #78 on your blog post
~list the brands of dies used on your project

You have until December 3rd to join in on the Scrapy Land Challenge #78 fun and have a chance of winning a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.

Thanks for stopping by!!
